Winter Soccer Update

As you may have heard, Governor Northam has imposed new restrictions relating to the COVID pandemic. The number of participants allowed for recreational sports will still permit us to play our winter games. However, the new restrictions do call for everyone over the age of five to wear a mask outdoors when you cannot maintain a six-foot distance. Obviously, that is not possible while playing.

Based upon these new restrictions and the recommendations from the Virginia Department of Health, the decision has been made that masks will become mandatory for the winter season. The guidelines can be found here â?? https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/coronavirus/schools-workplaces-community-locations/sports/ Their guidance for recreational sports says, "During times of substantial COVID-19 activity VDH strongly advises athletes to wear masks at all times during group training, competition, and on the sidelines."

So for now, everyone participating in FWSA games MUST show up with a mask and wear it at all times while at the fields - before, during and after games. I cannot stress enough how very important this is. Paramount is the safety and well-being of everyone participating and anyone they come in contact with. Also, noncompliance could result in loss of our field permits. With everyoneâ??s compliance and cooperation, we can make this work. Thank you in advance for your help in keeping FWSA games safe and compliant.
