About FWSA
Greetings and welcome to the Fairfax Women's Soccer Association website!
Our organization is over 25 years old and consists of roughly 700 women between the ages of 18 and "somewhere [well] over 50." We have two regular seasons Spring and Fall where teams play ten games (weather permitting). Our Summer and Winter seasons are more relax and offer a great opportunity for players who wish to try the league.
Age categories
- Open--women 18 years or older--any woman can play here
- Masters--over 30
- Grandmasters--over 40
- GGM--over 50
"Over" means that women must turn that particular age within the first season that they play.
From there, the age brackets break into color divisions.
Note: although we are a recreational league, competition is a natural aspect of the game. A higher degree of skill and a greater degree of competition can be found in the higher divisions.
Divisions
- Blue--upper division, considered more competitive
- Red--middle division, a bit competitive
- White--lower division, for those new/newer to the game, more recreational
Fields
Our base fields are located in the Pine Ridge Park complex across Woodburn Road from Fairfax Hospital and at Wakefield. We play at other locations around the county depending on our field allocation for the season. While the league had been predominantly a Saturday league, more of our game slots are now in the evenings. Our most recent field allocation was 50% Saturday and 50% Evenings.
